'67年発表の処女作から'71年発表の遺作まで、ドアーズの5枚のアルバムがCD化された。ドアーズのラディカリズムは、決してイデオロギッシュなものではなく、人間の存在の深奥に根差したものだ。ジム・モリソンの表現は極めて個人的なものであるがゆえに時代を超越した普遍性を獲得している。たとえサウンドは古びても、彼の表現は古びはしない。これからも、ロックの歴史のターニング・ポイントにはジム・モリソンの亡霊が蘇るだろう。

　ドアーズのセカンドアルバムは、大道芸人のジャケット。ちょっと不気味な感じがするけど、内容と上手くマッチしているなぁと感心する。
　ちょっとオドロオドロしい一曲目や、モリソンのボーカルの巧さが際だつ"Love me two times"や、ポップな曲、スティーブン・キングの世界に迷い込んだ様な気分になる曲など、ダークな色彩感に溢れる曲で一杯の作品。誰にでも好かれる種類のアルバムではないかも知れないけど、ドアーズで一枚と言われたら、個人的には本作を挙げたい。

ファーストで見せた、ダークだけどどこかポップな感じはこのアルバムでは研ぎ澄まされ、よりダーク・ポップな感じが強まっています。
最初の曲からいきなり「STORANGE DAY」というスタート。しかもこの曲がなんとも不思議な世界への入り口っぽい曲で、このアルバム全体のそれこそストレンジな感じはこの一曲目で決定的だな、と思いました。

オルガンの音も、前作と比べるとやや落ち着いた感じで、その代わりに音響的な加工が少し増えていると思います。一曲ごとの個性でいうと、前作のほうがあると思いますが、アルバム全体のまとまりとしてはこちらのアルバムのほうがより完成度が高いと思います。

とにかくジムモリソンのヴォーカルはやばい。かっこいい。いかれタ感じがなんとも・・。独特のキーボードにも注目。
