   1996年録音のデビュー作『クローズ・ユア・アイズ』、セカンド作『テンダー・トラップ』、フレッド・アステア集『レット・ユアセルフ・ゴー』といったアルバムで着実にファンの心をつかんだイギリスの女性歌手、ステイシー・ケント（出身はニューヨーク）が2000年に録音した第4作。この人、2001年のブリティッシュ・ジャズ・アウォードでベスト・ヴォーカリストに選出されている。ノスタルジックでチャーミング、素朴で可憐な歌声が人気を呼び、日本にも根強いファンがいる。いわゆる50年代の白人系ヴォーカルの系譜に属する人。仲宗根かほるの英国版といった感じがしないでもない。本作ではサックス奏者でもある夫君、ジム・トムリンソンを中心とするシンプルなコンボをバックにスタンダード・バラードを優しく語りかけるように歌っていて、心がなごむ。アレンジは本人とトムリンソン。選曲はファンのリクエストによるものだとか。曲は有名スタンダード中心だが、映画『チキ・チキ・バン・バン』からの<8>は意外な選曲。これが実にいい。（市川正二）

この人の声は、なんとも心地いい。一曲目の、最初のフレーズを聞いた瞬間から、彼女の世界にすっかり引き込まれてしまった。穏やかで、やさしい独特の歌声で、バラードばかりを歌っている。何度聞いても飽きない、何度でも聞きたくなる、そんなアルバムです。

普段はSWING系のジャズをよく聞いててバラード集とかって途中で退屈になったりするんですけど、このStaceyのアルバムは最後までイッキに聞きとおしてしまいました。静かなんだけどなにか胸を鷲ずかみにされるような感じの声。ホント聞かせます！夏の日の夕暮れに彼女と（いないんですけど・・）ビールを飲みながら聞きたいアルバム。僕はたまらなく好きです。

エラやサラの様に熱くない。ジュリーのように濡れてない。毎日聴いても飽きることがないピュアな歌声。今流行の日本のジャズボーカリストには決してみられない歌心を感じることができる名盤です。さらっと流しても心地よいですが、じっくり聴くと実にしっかりと歌い上げているのが分かります。とにかく全編バラードを飽きることなく聴かせる実力はたいしたものです！
