日本が世界に誇るオルタナティヴ前衛変態バンド。
ドラムは打楽器では無く楽器である。ということを認識させられた一枚。
再生するなり、「♪フォンフォン・・・」
という不穏なサイレンのような効果音が鳴り響き、
不規則ドラムが始まります。音飛びしてるのかと勘違いした。
まあ、当時の僕にとっては、それほど変異なサウンドだったわけです。
まずドラムに驚いた。普通のJ-popのドラムがドラえもんだとしたら、
こっちは21エモン、みたいな。不規則極まりないドラムです。
スカスカいってる軽い音で、意図的にはみ出したドラム。
それがまた耳に心地よい。ベースはうねる大蛇のよう。
そんな要素が渾然一体となり存在しているのです。
ギターはメロディ成分ほぼゼロ。
どうやって出してるんだか分からないけど、
電池が切れかけのオモチャみたいな効果音ばっかり鳴らしています。
そして問題のボーカルは、ニワトリです。ニワトリボーカル。
どっから出してるんだか知れない高音で短いフレーズを連発します。
これらが渾然一体となり、融けたバナナのようになっている。
初めて通して聴いた後は身震いしました。こんな音楽もあるのか、と。
