ビョークのアルバムはどれも失望することがなく、常に前進と変換があり感動させられますが、このアルバムについて私の場合ＣＤ→シネマの順で出会うこととなりました。シネマそのものの衝撃的な内容にも数々の思いがありますが、音楽からは聴く者の生活から出るより多くの連鎖があります。

中でも汽車のレール音をリズムの出だしとして敷衍させているナンバーからは、無限のストーリーが連想され、自身の幼き日からのノスタルジアを掻き出される思いです。このサウンドトラックから又別のセルマのストーリーを描いてもらいたいと期待します。

ダンサー・イン・ザ・ダークという映画は、観るその人が問われる作品でもあるように感じる。

私の場合、最後の最後まで、ビョークの音楽の圧倒的な力によって引っ張られていき、いつの間にか、セルマの希望と絶望、そして魂の救済とともに呼吸すら同化してしまっていた。

そのダンサー・イン・ザ・ダークの音楽を集めたこの「セルマソングス」は、他のビョーク作品に比しても、際立って美しく、胸に迫る音楽がつまっている。
ただ一曲、最も大切な曲が収録されていない。
「最後から２番目の歌」、
その意図と意味を噛み締めつつ、大切に聴きたい。

映画を見てからこのCDを購入した私としてはやはり映画のシーンを浮かべながら聴いてしまう。映画を見ることで曲に対する感動が大きくなる。曲それぞれのシーンを思い出すことで心が音楽に吸い込まれていく。このCDではBjorkはSelmaとして歌っているともいえる。Selmaというガラスの向こうであのBjorkらしい心躍動する感動も聴き取れる。SelmaとしてのBjorkもまた新しい表現だった。映画を一度見るのも同時にお勧めする。
