【プロフィール】
1945年1月10日生まれ、英国ロンドン出身。18歳の時にジミー・パウエル&ファイヴ・ディメンションズに参加したのをきっかけに音楽活動をスタート。スティーム・パケットなど、いくつかのグループを経て、66年にジェフ・ベック・グループにヴォーカリストとして加入。69年にはスモール・フェイセズ(フェイセズに改名)に加入すると同時にソロ活動もスタートさせ、70年にアルバム『ロッド・スチュワート・アルバム』でソロ・デビュー。71年にシングル「マギー・メイ」がアメリカとイギリスで同時にNo.1を記録する偉業を達成。その後も「セイリング」ほか数多くの大ヒット曲を放ち、ハイ・ペースでアルバム・リリースを重ねている。80年代以降も大規模なコンサートを開催するなど、全世界のトップ・スターとして君臨。2001年からは自身の新たなライフ・ワークとも言えるスタンダード集『ザ・グレイト・アメリカン・ソングブック』を発表し、高い評価を得ている。

今から、○十年前、このアルバムのレコードが発売されたのと同時に購入しました。
それからずっと聴き続けていました。（カセットテープで！）。
しかし数年前に車を変えた時に、カセットが無くなってしばらく聴けない状態でした。でもやっと届いて聴いたら、やっぱり、ＲＯＤ　ＳＴＥＷＡＲＴはかっこいい！特にこのアルバムは最高です。
何年か前にＴＶでみた、「Ｉ’ｍ　ＳＥＸＹ」が目に浮かんで来ました。

前作「FOOTLOSE AND FANCYLOOSE」から見受けられた、単なるロックンローラーからボーカリスト、ロックスターへの移行を更に推し進めたロックアルバム。
所謂ディスコサウンドといったアルバムイメージが強いかもしれないけども、ヒット曲であり冒頭ナンバーと他数曲がレゲェ調ニューウェーブ調であるだけで、その他多数が前作の延長線上にあるロックンロールやスマートなロッカバラード。
一曲目がアルバム全体のイメージに大きく影響するのは間違いないのでディスコサウンドとしての位置づけの1枚だけども、ロックンローラーらしいロッドしか興味のない人で、未聴の方がおいでるとしたら、意外と聴ける曲があると思うかも。
