昔、人生のターニング・ポイントとなるようなつらい経験をした時代に
Bill LaBountyを始めて聴いて以来、彼の声はずっと私のそばにありました。今ではなんとか無事に日々を送っていますが、彼の曲を聴く度に
あの当時を思い出します。
どの曲も素晴らしいの一言です。これらの曲が当時はあまりヒットしなかったのは不思議です。

彼のソウルフルで力強い声に魅了され、ハッピーになれるCDでしょう。
もう一度AORブームが到来すれば改めて彼の素晴らしさが認識されるのに。

5.0 out of 5 stars ほっと一息をつける癒し系AORの名盤, 2002/6/23
初めて聴いたとき、あまりの心地よさに「もっと早く出会いたかった…」と素直に感動した珠玉のAOR。
リバーシブル・ジャケットの裏面にされてしまった本人の顔はどこか疲れた実にさえない男だが、憂いのあるハスキーヴォイスで歌う甘く切ないナンバーを聴くうちに、「この男がこんなに素敵な歌を歌うんだ…」と、しみじみと元気づけられる。

楽曲の完成度は申し分なく、Steve Lukather、Steve Gadd、Jeff Porcaro、David Sanborn等、豪華メンバーによるツボを押さえた演奏も実に効いている。
1「Livin' It Up」はAORスタンダードだ。

日本盤ジャケットは、プールに浮いたエアマットに寝そべってるカップルが、ドリンク片手に手を繋いで見つめ合っている、爽やかイメージ写真。輸入盤では主人公であるビルおじさんのアップ写真と、日米対照的な販売戦略でしたが、外見は何であれ、肝心の中身は間違いなくAORの名盤です。はっきり言って1曲目のイントロから全曲ハズレなし、彼の渋い声や、粒ぞろい楽曲に加え、バックのミュージシャンのサウンドワークも素晴らしいの一言です。特にデビット・サンボーンのサックスには泣かされます。ちなみに自分のハンドルネームは切ないバラード4曲目から頂きました。ホントに優しい気持ちにしてくれる一枚です。
