Cafe del Mar Ibiza, Vol. 2が一番好きです。
１もUnderworldの地味な曲や、Penguin Cafeなんかも
あって飽きなかったけど。

ReactからMercuryに変わってからは音にお金の匂いがプンプンして、
ゴージャス過ぎるというか。ビジネスライクな音でつまらなくなってしまいました。

これは、気取りすぎてなくてヨーロッパを表現できてる気がするのだが...

Cafe Del Mar シリーズというのはどれもとても個性的な音楽の詰まった宝箱のようなＣＤだと思います。一般に言われる『癒し系音楽』とは異なり、少しテクノ(？)がかったメロディが心とシンクロし、自我を成長させる。これはそんなＣＤだと思います。ぜひ聞いてみて下さい！！

カフェ・デル・マー・シリーズの5作目（アメリカでは最近になって初めてリリースされた）からにじみ出ているのは、暖かでぼんやりとしているが刺激的なトリップホップで味付けしたサウンドであり、ありきたりのエレクトロニカはまったく聴こえてこない。これまでのシリーズと同じく、本作でもアルバムの中盤に、リスナー聴かれるのを待つ珠玉のトラックがある。それが素敵な「Face a la Mer」で、曲全体に達人マッシヴ・アタック（とニックウォーレン）による見事なダブが持ちこまれている。KLFのような壮大な夢をおりなすLambの「Transfatty Acid (Kruder & Dorfmeister remix edit)」は唯一「Face a la Mer」と肩を並べる出来だ。
ほかにも、レヴィテイションの「More Than Ever People」は、オレンジに輝く夕陽がきらめく波に沈むなか、暖かなバックビートが官能性を添えている。また、ユニット、アム・ストロンのレトロ・ディス曲「Tout Est Bleu」はダンスフロア・トラックの角のとがった音とはまるい曲線のような音を響かせている。こうしてみると本作を楽しむには、個々よりも全体の方が強いという決まり文句にしたがい、明かりを暗くし、ロマンチッックな相手を見つけ、ただ音楽に語らせるのが一番だ。
