マークボールズがイングヴェイと袂をわかってはや１０年。月日の流れは早いもので・・・。(まぁ、この後すぐイングヴェイのアルバムに参加するのだが)　リリースされたのがこのイグニション。いい曲は４曲で、３曲目のファインド　アワー　ウェイ、４曲目のマイ　ターン、７曲目のアイム　ソーリー、８曲目のブロークン　ハート。いずれもポップでまたマークの違う一面が見れてとても新鮮。ファンならこれを買ってもう一度彼の世界を勉強し直してみるのも楽しいと思うがどうでしょう。僕は中でも７、８が好きですね。７はかなりジャジーでタテノリし過ぎずいい意味でラフに歌っているのがカッコいい。８は彼のお家芸であるバラード。かなり高音をおさえぎみに歌っていながら普通は失われがちになる迫力が感じ取れる。彼はこんな歌い方もするのかと初めて聴く人は驚かれる方もいるかもしれない。いまさらながらに思うがロックチューンのイングヴェイやリング　オブ　ファイア(現在)サウンドよりこれのようにしっとりと聴かせてくれる楽曲の方がマークには合っている感じがしますがね。

の歌唱が良いです。
楽曲も、YngwieやRing of fireとは一味違います。
あえていえば、AORぽいかな．
名前を臥せているようですが、Doug Aldrichのプレイも良いです。

Yngwieの「Inspiration」で素晴らしい歌唱を聴かせた後のソロ1作目です。が、ジャンルがハード・ロックなので正直なところあまり彼の声に楽曲が合ってないです。グレイト・ホワイトのジャック・ラッセルが歌ったら合いそうな感じですかね。勿論彼は希代の名ボーカルですから歌唱は素晴らしいの一言なんですがなにぶん合ってないもんで…。しかしその中でも4,10番なんかはイイ曲でそこは流石です。ただ、彼の声が活かされた曲が聴きたいならYngwieの「Alchemy」やソロ2作目なんかがいいでしょう。歌詞カードにこれでもかとちりばめられた彼の写真にも?ですし…まぁ音とは関係ないですが。
