 「ルパン三世」「犬神家の一族」「人間の証明」「小さな旅」「水もれ甲介」などを手掛け、作曲家としてあまりにも有名な大野雄二のトリオによる「ルパン三世」の楽曲を取り上げたれっきとしたジャズ・アルバム。
   ジャズのCDとしては近年稀にみる好セールスを記録した大ヒット作だ。確かにルパン効果のタマモノであるがゆえに、眉をひそめる方がいるのも事実であろう。しかし、現在の日本のジャズ・ライヴ・シーンにおいて、最も若者から、一般層まで支持を得ているジャズ・ピアニストであり、実際にルパンの音楽を作曲しているのは彼自身なので、文句のつけようもあるまい。

誤解を受けそうだが、歌手のレベルだとか、そんな話ではなくて、なんとも英語詞がぎこちなく聞こえる、といったそんな話である。
インストゥルメンタルの部分は問題なしに楽しめるのだが・・・。

鈴木良雄さん、村田憲一郎さんとのピアノトリオを中心に、シンシアデューベリー、リレット、そしてTokuさんまで入って豪華版ですね。杉本喜代志さんのギター！　たまらんですね。ブルージーで素晴らしいです。なんだかブルーノートのケニーバレルの"ミッドナイトブルー"を聴いてるかのよう。そしてやっぱり横山達治さんのパーカッション、大野さんの音楽にぴったりですね。しかしルパンジャズシリーズで一番凄いと思ったのは、チンさんこと鈴木良雄さんの説得力あるベースと、大野さんのスウィングしまくるピアノ。素晴らしいです。別にルパンであろうがなんだろうが既にどうでも良く、ジャズアルバムとしてクオリティがばりばりに高い。"Stolen Moments"は、他のアルバムでもいつも入っているようですが、ほんとうに素敵なメロディで大野さんの作曲したものの中では、一番偉大な曲かもしれませんね。不二子ちゃんのイメージは僕としてはこれですね！

私はｊａｚｚのＣＤを、初めてこの作品で買いました。知っている曲もいくつかあったので、聞きやすかったです。他の二作と違って、ボーカルが入っていますが、私にはかえってそれが良かった。初めてのジャズで、音だけの物は最初は全部同じに聞こえた私も、歌がある曲から耳になじんでいきました。それに、ｊａｚｚっていうと堅いイメージがあるけど、所々に歌が入ってたりすると、女の子なんかも聞きやすいと思います。午後のｔｅａ，ｔｉｍｅにも十分使えますよ☆ルパンが好きな人、ｊａｚｚが初めての人、みんなにオススメです。
