4.0 out of 5 stars Ｊ・フュージョンの分岐点, 2004/7/10
ＴＶ-ＣＭにも採用されたりした表題曲で有名なアルバム。上質なフュージョンというかアメリカナイズされたサウンドが今の耳には若干チープに聴かれるかもしれない。でも、マイルスのサウンドを意識した音作りは、当時の日本のフュージョン界にあって一石を投じる役割を果たしのは確かであろう。夭折したピアニスト、Ｋ・カークランドもキーボードで参加している。

御案内させていただきます。去年のマウントフジジャズフェスティバルで格の違いをみせつけた日野てるまさグループ。まるでフレディーハバードみたいな炸裂であった。すでに６０才を越えているはずであるがジャズがかっこいいという事実を提示できる才能に脱帽。でだ、そのライブを見て痛切に感じたのは、いまの日本の聴衆は、かなり耳が肥えて来ており、このアルバムで演奏されているようなノリのよいファンキーフュージョンをあのときに演奏するべきだったのかもしれないということ。近年はこのアルバムのようなソリッドなフュージョンをやらなくなった印象。大御所になってしまったために仕方がないが。現在の日本のおおかたの聴衆にぴたりとはまり込むのはこのアルバムに収録されているような、メリハリのあるフュージョンではないのか。そんな印象を持った、やや時代を先取りし過ぎていたアルバム。１９８２年の時点ではまだまだ日本の聴衆の耳はできていなかったと思う。今聴くとかなりはまる。（８点）
