97年「キラメキ☆mmmbop」で彗星のごとくデビューして、瞬く間にトップ・アイドルになったハンソン待望のセカンド・アルバム。サウンドはロックン・ロール色が強く深みのある内容だ。

盆、正月に法事、久しぶりに会った従兄弟が顔つきから声まで大きく変わっていて驚かされる、なんて経験があったが、ハンソン3兄弟もまたしかり(長兄アイザック、やや徒長気味)。デビュー作から3年間のインターバルを置くうちに、風貌だけでなく音楽性もかなり大人びてきた。のっけからのラテン・ロックに処世術をのぞかせながら、内面に育つアーティスト性を着実に作品へと反映。人生に陰影も入る思春期、そういつまでもキラメいてばかりはいられないってことだろう。
あまりに若くしてデビューすると、初々しさの喪失が致命的になったりするが、彼らはその残酷さを自覚しているもよう。というわけで、前作のポップさを継承しながら早々と次のステップへ移行。アルバム制作段階でのプロデューサー交代劇も、そのあたりのサジ加減が原因かもしれない。定番のメロディも多いが、それが聴きやすく、しっかり耳に残るのは、彼らがプロたる証拠だ。 (丸目蔵人) --- 2000年05月号

MMMBopでメジャーデビューを果たしたHANSON,そのハンソンが帰ってきた。ほんとにあの可愛らしい兄弟なのだろうかと思わせるサウンド。もう「アイドル」とは呼ばせないと言わんばかりにロック色が強くなっている。しかし、背伸びはせずに、ありのままの彼らを反映しているアルバムだと思う。ボーナストラックのSMILEも含め、全部通して聴いても飽きのこないアルバムだ。個人的にはCAN'T STOPが好きなのだが、皆さんはどうだろう？大きくなったHANSONをぜひ実感してほしい。

デビューから数年を経てようやく届けられたHANSONの新しい音は
著しい成長を遂げた彼等を見事に表現したと言える傑作。
自分たちの音楽に対するこだわりと、自信が感じられる出来映えです。
今作によって、“HANSON＝アイドル”の概念が払拭されるでしょう。
常に進化を続けているHANSON。
そんな彼等への期待は、高まるばかりです。
