　先日、マーラーの交響曲第６番のいいのはないかなあと検索していたところ、素晴らしいレビューの書かれているディスクがあった（褒めてあったというだけではなく、文章として立派であった）。それがラインスドルフの指揮するもので、もとめて聴いてつよく、惹かれた。
　それからしばらく「ラインスドルフ探検」ということになり、このディスクに出会った。これはいいディスクだ。ラインスドルフの良いところがはっきり出ている。ベートーヴェンの「第九」といえばさまざまな要素があるいわば「指揮者/オーケストラの検定試験」みたいな曲でもあるわけだが、これは実に見事な解答のひとつだ。
　第１楽章から第３楽章まではシンフォニー指揮者としてのラインスドルフの手腕がはっきり解るし、声楽をともなう第４楽章では「ああ、ラインスドルフはオペラ出身の人なのだ」と痛感させられる見事さ。合唱団もすぐれているし、独唱者、特に男声が凄い。それもそのはず、シェリル・ミルンズとプラシド・ドミンゴなのだ。

　ラインスドルフを好むレヴェルであれば、ものの本にかかれている、いろいろな曲の決定盤についてはすでにご存じであろう。そこで、わたしが漁った「ラインスドルフの盤」のなかで入手がむずかしくなく、値段もやすいものを簡単に紹介しておく。

　１．最初に書いたマーラーの交響曲第６番。ボストン交響楽団を振った国内盤、バイエルン放送交響楽団を振った輸入盤、いずれも素晴らしい。
　２．シカゴ交響楽団を振ってリヒテルと録音したブラームスのピアノ協奏曲第２番。
　３．同じくパールマンとのプロコフィエフのヴァイオリン協奏曲第２番。
　４．ローマ国立歌劇場を振ったプッチーニの「トゥーランドット」(
「Leinsdorf,Turandot」でヒットする。ビョルリンクとニルソン、テバルディという顔ぶれ！）。
　５．パールマンと組んでボストン交響楽団を振ったチャイコフスキーとシベリウスのヴァイオリン協奏曲（パールマン当時２２歳。これはなぜか「Sibelius,Perlman」でのみヒット）。

　６．ラザール・ベルマンと入れた（オーケストラはシカゴ交響楽団）ブラームスのピアノ協奏曲第１番。

　５についてはなぜかシベリウスが推進力を欠いた指揮になっており、このへんが「出来不出来がある」と言われる所以かもしれない。６はいささか「珍盤」の傾向なしとしないが、その責任はベルマンのアウフタクト感覚の違いのせいで（同じ盤の最後にベートーヴェンの「悲愴ソナタ」のカーネギー・ホールでのライヴが入っているが、聴衆の戸惑ったような拍手が面白い）、ラインスドルフはあくまでもラインスドルフである。

　どれも一聴の価値あり、です。
