私は昇順（Ｂｌｕｅ　Ｊａｍ→Ｋｉｔｃｈｅｎ→ｅ＆ｆ→本作...）に追ってきたので，”ｅｖｉｌ　＆　ｆｌｏｗｅｒｓ”を力みの終わりと同時に初期の大傑作とも捉えます。いわゆる，「捨て曲なし」です。

本作の後はＪｕｓｔ　ａ　Ｇｉｒｌ，Ｐｒｅｓｅｎｔ，Ｅｖｅｎ　Ｓｏと続きますが，ＪａＧの時点で明らかに「都会の大人の女性」路線を辿る意思が見えます。喩えるなら，ＦＭのＪ-ＷＡＶＥでヘヴィ・ローテイションとなるような形。

となると，本作（およびミニ・アルバム”Ｄａｉｓｙ”）のみが，前後途絶的な中期，と言えるかな。だからこそ，本アルバムはＢｏｎｎｉｅのＯｎｅ＆Ｏｎｌｙ，とも言える。

おそらく，ＪａＧ―まだ「私はただの女の子」とは言っていますが―の辺りで断ち切ったものが，本作にはまだ残っています。それは，「このままでいいのかな……」と思案をめぐらせる姿。これが，”Ｌｅｔ　ｇｏ”というタイトル，そしてジャケット・デザインに絶妙に表現されて。「解き放って」。
（ちなみに，ｅ＆ｆ以前は「このままではダメだよね」，断ち切った後は，「さ，行こうよ」）

本作は，その意味で頼りない。収録曲のひとつ（しかもシングル・カット）が”Ｙｏｕ　Ａｒｅ　Ｂｌｕｅ，　Ｓｏ　Ａｍ　Ｉ”。そして，それゆえ彼女の穏やかな一瞬を見せる結果となり，アコースティックな曲調がうまく重なるアルバムに。この頼りなさが，憎めない。

私自身は，”Ｇｏｌｄｅｎ　Ｔｅａｒｓ”まで含めて，この作品がＢｏｎｎｉｅ　Ｐｉｎｋのいちばん好きなアルバム。名前がすべて大文字になってからがどうにも……。

ボニーの音楽の幅の広さが分かる作品。しかも、初めてプロデュースに関わっている。この作品はミッチェル・フルームとの共同プロデュースなのである。シングルになった曲はもちろん良いが、シングルになってない「Run with Yourself」や「Rumblefish」など粒が揃っている。とても自然でやわらかく、そしてどこか温かく、時にはセクシーに歌っていて、ボニー・ピンク独特の素晴らしい世界が広がっている。また、大半の曲をギターで作曲しており、前作とは一味違ったグルーヴ感を醸し出している。英語も上達し、歌に説得力が増したと思う。日本語詞の歌も、切なく共感でき、美しい仕上がりになっている。
ボニー・ピンクには、是非とも海外進出して欲しい。そして、彼女はそれができるミュージシャンだと思う。個人的には、彼女は、日本でナンバーワンの実力を持ったシンガーソングライターだと思う。

一曲目の『Sleeping Child』で即買いしました。『過去と現実』は何度聴いてもまっすぐ心に響きます。
全体を通して聴くと、心地良い風が体のなかを吹きぬけるようです。
一日の終わりに、もしくはうららかな午後のうたた寝どきに、雨の降る朝に、風の強い日に、穏やかな深夜に。

聴く、というよりも流す、という表現がしっくりくるかも知れません。何度も何度も、体の中に流し込んでゆく。
