　サミーヘイガーを知ったのは恥ずかしながらVan Halenに加入してからだった。でもその声に圧倒されてしまいVan Halenのボーカルといえば僕はSammy Hagarなんだな。そんな訳で彼のゲフィン時代のベスト盤「UnBoxed」を買って満足していたのだけれど、脱退してからの彼の音は追いかけていなかった。

　今ごろになって「UnBoxed」を聴きなおし、「はて？今彼はどうしているのだろう？」と思ってアマゾン検索をし、皆さんの評価を見ながらまず本作を購入。これは良かったですね。圧倒的な歌声は相変わらずでVoice of America、Red Rockerという称号はまだまだ続くよね。この歳（52歳？）でよくこんな声量を保てるものだなぁと感心しきりなのですが、いかんせん決め球の曲が少なくてアルバムの印象を薄いものにしてしまっているようです。全体的なSound Productもこじんまりとしていて迫力に欠けるのが惜しいです。

前作の恨みつらみ節とはうって変わってパーティーロックそのもの。彼の中で何かがはじけたのか彼がアメリカ人であることを実感出来。レッドロッカーの面目躍如である。1ではかのROCK　N　ROLL　PARTII（NBAやNHLなどの会場で客をのせるあの曲で誰もが一回は聞いたことのある曲です）のリフがうまい形で導入されていてこれでのらなきゃロック好きとは言えない。7、9はまさにライブを意識して作られたかのようなサミーお得意のパターン。10などはイントロにライブのSEを使い、それこそライブの感じだ。　ただ難点を言えば、アルバムそのものの出来はバツグンだのだが曲そのものの出来はかの名曲「~ONE　WAY　TO　ROCK」や「I　CAN'T　DRIVE　55」を超えてはいない。

　1999年、Sammy Hagarのアルバムです。
（VAN HALEN脱退後の2枚目です）

　前作「Marching to Mars」では、「豪華ゲスト & 渋めの曲」が目立ちましたが、
今作「Red Voodoo」では、「自身のバンド・THE WABORITAS & 豪快な曲」です。

　グリッターのリズムに乗った、tr.1「Mas Tequila」から、パワー全開！
　「いかにも、Live映えしそうな楽曲」が、ズラリと並びます！

　また、今作からTHE WABORITASとの演奏になりますが、
やはり、一体感・バンド感があって、いいです！　（特に、Groove！）

　ストレートな、直球勝負な楽曲！
　全身全霊を込めて、豪快に歌うSammy！
。。。これぞ、「Voice of America」「Red Rocker」。。。Sammy Hagarのお出ましです！
（「VAN HALEN路線ではない！」ところが、またGood！です）

　「Sammy ファン」「アメリカン・ロック・ファン」にオススメです。
（中古・激安です。。。が、決して「使い捨て音楽」ではありません！）
