内容はまあギターポップ／ネオアコの名曲がずらりと並んでいる感じです。ただ曲のタイプはバラバラなので、いわゆるミックスCDみたいにスムーズな流れではないですね。ただブロウ・モンキーズ→キュリオシティ→ジョーボクサーズと続くM16からM18の流れはダンサブルなホワイトソウルって感じで好きでした。
さて、わざわざここでレビューしたかったのは、M19でカイリー･ミノーグがプリファブ・スプラウトをカバーしているからです。これはちょっとマスターピースと銘打っているのに、意外でしたが、聴いてみたい感じもしました。かつて、カイリーはセイント･エチエンヌもカバーしていて、意外にも相性がよかったというのもありましたし。で、結果なのですが、テンポの良かった"if you don't love me"が歌い上げのバラードへと変わっていて、ちょっと今ひとつでした。とはいえ、なかなか貴重な音源だと思いますし、パディの曲もこういう風に歌うと、また全然違ったイメージを持たせるということも分かりました。あえて、これを収録した担当者の方に拍手を送りたいと思います。
