まさに哀愁のメロディアス・ハードロックというべき作品です。
新シンガー、トニー・オホーラの安定した歌唱力、憂いを帯びたその歌い回しには感涙。変な癖もなくのびやかなハイトーンを聴かせてくれます。
中音域も深みがあり、まさにこのバンドに打ってつけというところ。

楽曲にいたっても３、４曲目などはバックコーラスもたっぷり重なって重厚なハーモニーを堪能できることでしょう。TENなどのメロディアスなロックが好きな人には自信をもってお勧めします。若干人によってはドラムの音に弱さを感じるかもしれませんが、そこは目をつぶってでも買う価値あり。

前作「TO THE POWER OF TEN｣では随所にMANTISらしいメロディを登場させながらも、ゲイリー･バーデン(Vo)の苦しげな
歌唱と音楽的な散漫さでファンに期待に応えたとは言いがたかったPRAYING MANTIS。
'98年リリースのこの作品は新Voに無名のトニー・オホーラを迎えての久々の作品だ。
Drは前作に伴うツアーに参加していたクライヴ・バー(元IRON MAIDEN)に代わって、ブルース・ビスランドが復帰している。

結論から言うと素晴らしいアルバムである。
アルバム全編がこの上なく叙情的なメロディに彩られたMANTISサウンドで統一され、まさしくファンが熱望した作品に仕上がっている。
新加入のオホーラも声の線は細いものの、このサウンドにピッタリ嵌まる声質で楽曲の魅力を最大限に高めている。

捨て曲無しの名盤。

再結成後4作目のアルバムですが、ファンにとって見れば名作といわれるサードアルバム「ア・クライ・フォー・ザ・ニュー・ワールド」に匹敵するアルバムであると思います。曲自体も前作の「トゥー・ザ・パワー・オブ・テン」よりも秀曲が多くあります。私的には１~３曲目の流れと８曲目がオススメです。ヴォーカルは、気持ち線の細いハイトーンヴォイスですが、このバンドにはよく合っていると思います。まあ実際はこのアルバムで歌っていたヴォーカルは脱退してしまいましたが・・・。もしこのアルバムを聴いて、良いと思える人は近日に発売されるニューアルバムを買いましょう！！
