   イギー＆ストゥージズ名義でロック・シーンに登場したイギー・ポップは、71年のグループ解散後、しばらく音楽活動から遠ざかる。解散の原因といわれるドラッグ中毒の治療が終了したあと、以前からイギーのファンだったデヴィッド・ボウイのバック・アップもありバンドを再結成。復帰第1弾となったのが、この『RAW POWER』だ。
   ステージの上で自分の身体にナイフでキズをつけるという自虐的なパフォーマンス（そのせいで、現在でもイギーの身体には無数の生々しいキズが残っている）が象徴するように、ひたすら暴力的、刹那的だったサウンドで有名だったイギーだが、本作では、彼の心の深淵が垣間見えてくるような、内省的な音作りへとシフトしている。表面的な衝撃度はなくなったが、作品を聴いた後に残る情感は果てしなく重い。ただ暴れまくることによる一時的なカタルシスを越え、本質的な怒りと孤独をまっすぐに表現しはじめた本作には、イギーのなかに巣くう危うさがはっきりと表れているのだ。彼のロック・アーティストとしての才能を引き出すことに成功したボウイのプロデュース・ワークも秀逸。（森 朋之）

イギー自身の監修によるデジタル・リミックス&リマスタリングで蘇った73年の傑作。70~80年代にはパンク・ロックの聖典だった作品だが,往年の邦題『淫力魔人』(笑)にふさわしい魔力を取り戻した今回の改訂盤は90年代パンクスの新たなバイブルになるかも。

史上最高のロッカー、イギー・ポップの放つ最高傑作の一つ。
イギーの時に吼え、時に怪しい、何とも形容し難いほど格好良い声と、
耳をつんざくジェイムス・ウィリアムソンのメタリック・ギターが、
あなたを爆走、狂乱状態に追い込む。

これほど渇いた音は、空前絶後、私は耳にしたことがない。

まだ聴いたこともない、全てのロックファン、パンクスは、
絶対に今すぐCD屋に行って購入し、一刻も早く聴くべし！
これを聴かずして、この良さを判らずして、ロック、パンクを語るなかれ。

これはロックンロールなのだろうか、パンクなのだろうか。ストーンズがヘヴィーになった感じです。とにかくイギー様、暴走しております。特に「Your Pretty Face is Going To Hell」は衝撃でした！爆音で聴いていたら、スピーカーが割れる~~~っ！！地震が起きる~~~っ！！と思いました。圧迫された気分になりました。地響きするぐらいカッコイイです。ジャケットも、ただマイクを握っているだけなのにどうしてこんなにカッコイイんだろう。タイトルを付けるなら「伝説のロッカー」。

こんなに身も心もシャウトするアルバムはありませんっ。
すぐに購入すべき！
これは破壊の美学です。
イギーの身を投げうった激しい叫びが、儚くも美しい。
聴けば聴くほど、危険なローパワーの魅力にしびれます。
麻薬の１枚。

かっこいい。ピストルズなんかよりこのバンドだな。何の変哲もないガレージパンクなのだが、何か神懸かりみたいな物を感じる。イギーかっこいいなあ、やっぱり。
