4.0 out of 5 stars スルメのようなメタルバンド, 2002/1/6
　一言でいえば「スルメ」。気に入ったバンドを形容すればみんなそうなろうが、私にとっては珍しく日本のメタルでこう呼べるバンドが登場した。好き嫌いはあろうが、ツボは抑えている。初めて聞いた印象は「なんや、良うわからん変なバンド」だったが、今やローリング・ストーンズやレインボー、マイケル・シェンカーとならぶ私の定番に収まっている。

　お勧めはなんと言っても４曲目「ドント・レット・ザ・サン・ゴー・ダウン」。正統派のハードロックだ。この曲を聴くためだけに私はアルバムを買ったが、１-３曲目の流れもすごくいい。中盤でダレるのがやや気がかりだが、１１曲目のタイトル曲もいい出来だ。ギター奏者の音の作り方は私自身の好みではないが、曲調には合っているのだろう。

　メンバー一人ひとりの才能の高さはさることながら、要はやはりファンキー末吉だろう。この男の音楽趣味の幅広さがこのバンドを単なるメタルの範疇に留めおかなかったといえよう。彼がこのバンドを組む直前にやっていた「夜総会バンド」（first、日本クラウン）というプロジェクトと聞き比べてみると、その面白さは倍増する。
