   ヌーノ・ベッテンコート、ゲイリー・シェローン、ポール・ギアリー、パット・バジャーの4人により、85年に結成されたアメリカのロックバンドである。デビュー以前からロック系ラジオ局のDJたちから、絶対にブレイクするバンドと熱い視線を送られていた。
   特にギタリスト、ヌーノの冴えたリズム感、臨機応変にさまざまなテイストを取り入れるプレイのセンスは絶賛の的となった。91年セカンドアルバム『ポルノグラフィティ』からのアコースティックナンバー<8>で、全米ナンバー1を獲得。予想どおりロックファンの支持を受け活躍するが、96年に解散した。（春野丸緒）

かつてハードロックファンを狂喜させ、今なお根強い人気を誇る伝説のロックバンドのベスト盤。

パワフルで歌唱力の高いボーカル、タイトで正確無比なリズム隊、良質なメロディとコーラスが、最高にノリのいいロックンロールナンバーを引き立てる。

しかしこのバンドの強みは、やはりカリスマギタリスト、ヌーノ・ベッテンコートのクールなギタープレイにあるといえる。

ギターソロの華麗さもさることながら、ボーカルラインの裏側で思わず気を惹かれるようなインパクトのあるバッキングが施されており、彼の曲におけるギターフレーズの配置のセンスのよさを伺うことができる。

80年代に活躍したあまたのHR/HMバンドのよい面をすべからく継承し、高い次元で昇華させたサウンドはそのテの音楽ファンにはたまらない。

ギター好き、ハードロック好き、ノリのよい音楽好きのすべての人を魅了する名バンドの曲集は一聴の価値ありだ。


ただ個人的に、「ウォーヘッズ」は入れてほしかった…

ある日本人歌手がラジオ番組の中で「ＭＯＲＥ　ＴＨＡＮ　ＷＯＲＤＳ」を歌ってくれたのが気に入って、ここまでＥｘｔｒｅｍｅをチェックにきました。やはり、「ＭＯＲＥ・・・」はちょっと渋めのお声のバラードでグッドです。ただ、他の曲はみんな古き良きアメリカって感じですかね。ジャカジャカのギター音は好きキライあるかな。
