ベルゴンツィのオペラ・アリアを集めた２枚組CD。全曲盤からの抜粋で、録音は良好です。
48年、「セビリャの理髪師」フィガロ役で、バリトンとしてデビューしたベルゴンツィは、途中でテノールに転向。51年、「アンドレア・シェニエ」のタイトル・ロールを歌って、再デビューしました。同年代のコレルリやステファノと比べると、少し地味な印象がありますが、フレーズを大切にした丁寧な歌唱には、抜群の安定感があります。スケールの大きさも持ち合わせながら、品があってエレガント。ロマンティックなアリアからラダメスやマンリーコまで朗々と歌い上げて見事なものです。古いスタイルかもしれませんが、素敵です。
