デビュー当時からZARDを聴き続け、あの頃一番お気に入り歌手だっただけに、坂井さんの逝去は断腸の思いでした。彼女が愛された理由。ひたすらベールに包まれたプロモ路線もあったでしょうが、メディア苦手だけどひたすら音楽を愛する謙虚な信念、胸がキュンとなるような声質にあると思います。もちろん詞も。。

本盤は、オリコン上位のみ対象としたCDですが、驚くのが過半数がマイナーkeyの悲しい曲調が占めている事。この路線は、大衆受けするのは困難でありながら、ZARDは哀愁曲がこれだけ支持を受けているという意外性もある。一般的に敬遠する傾向のあるこの手の路線だが、ビーイング陣のドラマティックなメロディラインに、坂井さんの哀愁に満ちたボイス、そして少々陰りのある詞制作に長けた彼女のベクトルが上手く噛み合った故の傑作連発といった所。

しかしがら、元気ソングというもう一つの一面が含まれる楽曲も多い。♪１・３・４・１１がその代表だが、この相反した楽曲をこなした彼女の器の深さと、何を持ってして大衆の心をつかむかを熟知していた才も見逃せない。或いは、大衆の心を代弁するような普遍性を彼女が持っていた。つまり、謎な孤高な雰囲気がありながら、どこか身近に感じられるような暖かさを曲から感じ取る事ができる。

だからこそ、逝去というのは私の中では、心がどこか砕けた感覚に陥るのです。一歌手でありながら、どこか共感してしまう一女性として。(逝去後編集）

ＺＡＲＤファンでなくても知っている「負けないで」やミリオンを達成した「マイ　フレンド」などＺＡＲＤの定番ソングで構成されており、ほとんどの曲をシングル・バージョンで聴くことができるＣＤです。これを聴いてはまった人はもう一枚のベストアルバムもぜひ聴いてみましょう。ＺＡＲＤファンになりたいなら必ずチェックしておきたい一品ですよ。

ＺＡＲＤのファンの方には叱られるかもしれませんが、長島さんの大ファンで、ラジオから長嶋さんの歌声というか、妙な掛け声みたいなのが聞こえてきて、それはそれでびっくりしたのですが、その曲が非常に印象に残りまして、ようやく探しだしたのがこのＣＤでした。ＺＡＲＤファンの方、すみません。実は、これが初めて買ったＺＡＲＤのＣＤです。ところが、このＣＤを聴くや、聞き覚えのある曲ばかりで、今度はＺＡＲＤにびっくりしました。良い曲ばかりですね。それからはＺＡＲＤファンになってしまいました。私のようなケースは余りないでしょうが、これは買って損はしないと思います。長島ファンの方は是非！その曲は、４曲目の「果てしない夢を」でした。
