僕はpierrotの「ラスト・レター」を聴いた時から、音楽人生がスタートしました・・・。
あの曲には、泣きました・・・・。

というか、初期の４枚のシングルは何回も聴きまくりましたし、さぁ、ついにアルバム・リリースだ！！
と、気合充分でレジに向かい、本作を購入したのですが(約１０年前)、聴いた印象は、(何、これ？)。

単純に良い曲が全然無い。
なんか、急いで作ったかのような雰囲気で、シングル以外、好きな曲が全然ありませんでした・・・。
これは、かなり、当時ショッキングだったのです。

まだ、１３歳の僕は、信じられない位、純粋だったので(自分で言うのも何だが・・・)、pierrotは、音楽をやるために違う星から、やってきたのじゃないか・・・くらいに彼らを神格化していたのです。

それだけにこのアルバムの出来は響いた・・・。

最近、当時の雑誌を読んでいて、「ファーストアルバムにしてなぜFINALEか？」という問にキリトさんは「~始まりっていう意味を伝えたくても、その言葉っていうのはフィナーレになるっていうか・・・。その辺がヒネくれた所ですかね。」と答えてらっしゃいました。そこがまた"らしいな"と思います。

シングル曲が5曲も入っているとアルバムとしては聞きやすいのか、新鮮さがあるのかないのか。。。個人的にもあまり聞いていない方のアルバムですが、これを機にまた聞き直したいと思います。
1曲目の「FINALE」が"始まり"、ラスト曲「Newborn Baby」で何が生まれたかはその後のPIERROTが証明してくれてますよね。この後にリリースされた作品を聞くと、このアルバムは嵐の前の静けさ(とはいってもおとなしくはない)のような気がします。

デルアングレイとほぼ同時期にデビューしたバンドでヴィジュアル系、ライブの会場の規模も同じような速度で大きい会場になっていき、お互い長い期間大きい会場でライブができていたバンドで兄弟バンドみたいな感じでみていました。メジャーデビューアルバムもお互い聴きやすい曲をいれ、ミクスチャーロックの要素が強くなります。ただ違ったのはピエロは国内での活動に目を向けて活動していた点が違いました。それとピエロはミクスチャーの要素が強くなりますがインディーズからの自分達のイメージを変えずに最後まで活動していました。恐らく解散したのは自分達のファンのもつイメージがこれ以上活動すると変わってしまうのではと思い解散したんだと思います
