アンブロージアの四枚目のアルバムです。
このアルバムでは初期のプログレッシヴロックサウンドは陰も形も見当たりません。アルバムジャケットからしてAORですね。ファーストやセカンドを知らない人がアンブロージアがカンサスと並ぶアメリカンプログレの期待の星だったことを聞いたらびっくりすることでしょう。
このアルバムではマイケル・マクドナルドに代表されるアメリカンシティーポップサウンドが展開されています。この手のAORが好きな方なら気に入ると思います。優れたポップソングアルバムです。

８０年発表の４作目。２ｎｄ発表後に脱退していた クリス・ノース(k) が復帰し、新たにデヴィッド・カットラー・ルイス(k)、ロイス・ジョーンズ(Vo、per) が参加。６人編成となってサウンドに厚みを加えた作品であり、９．が全米３位、４．が、全米１３位のヒットを記録。本作は前作と並んでグループの代表作となっている。スティーリー・ダンやＴＯＴＯなどのクロス・オーヴァー、ＡＯＲ的なサウンドにプログレ的なひねりを加えたハード・ポップを聞かせており、前作よりも更にアメリカン・ロック的なサウンドを聞かせているため、前作に合ったフュージョン・ポップ色はやや後退している。
１．はチープ・トリックあたりがやりそうなハード・ポップ。印象的なリフとメロディに甘美なコーラスが加わる。従来の彼らの作風とはやや違った曲だが、ドゥービー・ブラザースが持っているカラっとした明るさと哀愁をブレンドしたかのような絶妙な雰囲気は魅力的。２．もギターやコーラス・ワークはドゥービーズを強く感じさせる。３．は前作に合ったフュージョン・ポップをやや踏襲しているが、やはりアメリカン・ロック色の方が強い。美しいシンセの音色が聞き物。４．は後期イーグルス (ティモシー・シュミット風) を更にロマンティックにしたかのようなＡＯＲバラード。６．はＴＯＴＯとドゥービーズの中間的なメロウな曲。スラップ・ベースのアクセントが効いている。７．は印象的なメロディを持った哀感漂う佳曲。ちょっぴりＣ．Ｃ．Ｒ．が入ったハードなＡＯＲといった風情だ。８．はストレートなＲ＆Ｒナンバー。豪快なピアノ・ソロが聞き物。

このアルバムで初めて彼らを知った人は前身がプログレバンドだったなんて
思いもしないだろう。（それは俺だ！）
だってジャケットだってもろにAORアルバムだし。
でもAORアルバムとして聴けば非常に好アルバム
どの曲も適度にメロディアスでポップで非常に覚えやすい。
特にラスト9はやはり名曲だと思う。
最初からこの路線でいっていた方が成功していたように思うのだが
どうだろうか。
