~前作『Paradox』がコンセプト・アルバムで素晴らしい完成度でしたが、
今作はさらにその上を行きました。
揺るぎないハイトーンを持つジョン・ウェストの歌唱力は前任者以上で、
芯が一本通った説得力のあるヴォーカルです。
楽曲もかなりよく、ドラマティックの極致です。
JKのギター・ソロは情感たっぷりで泣かせます。
Royal~~ Huntの最高傑作に間違いないでしょう。~

ＤＣクーパーを解雇し、ジョン・ウェストを加入しての一枚目。相変わらずのロイヤルハント節だが肝心の楽曲が前奏が長いものが多く、その上７曲しか入ってないのがファン以外の購買意欲を削ぐ結果となっている。ＤＣクーパーという実力派シンガーの解雇直後ということもあり、ジョンの実力もリスナーに分かりずらい結果になってしまった不遇作。もう少し脚光を浴びてもいい作品なのだが…。

　D.C.クーパーのソロ活動をあまり快く思っていなかった等諸説が報じられているが、ともかく、リーダーのアンドレ(Key)によりD.C.は解雇。新Vo.として、元アーテンションのJohn Westが加入した。ロブ・ハルフォード脱退後の、JUDAS PRIESTの新Vo.最有力候補と言われただけあり超人的に声域が広い。D.C.クーパーも声域は広かったが、それ以上だ。D.C.とほぼ同じ低音からスタートして、女性の悲鳴くらいの高音まで到達する。

　ただ、声質的にはD.C.の方がバンドには合っていた気がする。JWは少々声の出が重く、ソウルフルで癖のある声質。上手いことは上手いが好みは分かれるだろう。それと…外見はD.C.の方が美形だった（苦笑）。従って女性票は減った。

　肝心の楽曲だが、より大作指向が鮮明となり、適度にポップで聞きやすかった以前に比べると、飽きることが多くなった。とはいえ、主旋律の良さは相変わらずだし、全員が上手いので、一流バンドであるのは確かだ。が、初めて聴くならD.C.時代の代表作「Moving Target」をお勧めする。
