「モンスター」などで以前から取り組んでいたエレキ路線だったが、マテリアルと組んで、とうとうここまできたか！という衝撃を受けた。

この頃の前後で、評論家からは「ハービーは何がしたいのか？」という疑問符付きのコメントが多く語られたが、マイルスもそれまでのジャズを変えてしまったように、ハービーも同じくジャンルの新たな「融合」を模索していたのだろうと思う。

これからも変化しつづけるであろう現代のヒップ・ホップの原点がここにあり、即興を駆使した音楽もジャンルを越えてひろく拡散している。

　もう20年近く前の作品。当時ヒップホップ、スクラッチ、という概念をこのレコードで知った人も多い。ビル・ラズウェルも。
　今の比較的若いリスナーには結構普通に聞こえると思うが、当時はほんとに未来音楽だった。ヒットした「Rock　It」のビデオクリップで使われてたロボットたちの映像も今みるとしょぼいが当時はえらくカッコよかった。

　ではこの音楽に今価値はないのかというと、全然そんなことはない。このジャンルの音のクラシックとして伝えられるべき衝撃とパワーは健在だ。
　ジャズ・ピアニストのハービーとは完全に別人だと思って聞くべし。

コマーシャルなディスコ路線／ヒップホップ路線。あたまでっかちなジャズ屋がストリートミュージックを突然やろうとしても頭の転換はできても肉体の転換はすぐにはできないことを露呈。
その証拠にハービーはヒップホップビートなのにモードでソロ＝アドリブをとっている
これは明らかに対応できていない証拠。

マルコムマクラーレンみたいなビルラズエルをひっぱりこんでのお仕事
１０点中５点　ややださいですね
