1976年の作品。超弩級ブラジリアン・ファンク。本人の弾くリズム・ギターとそのボーカルが独特のビートに乗ってなんとも言えない世界を。こんな音楽は他では味わえません。収録曲「タジ・マハール」はロッド・スチュアートが「ドゥ・ヤ・シンク・アイム・セクシー」で思わずパクっちゃったほどキャッチー。日常の元気強壮剤として大推薦です。

~これ「ジョルジ・ベンジョール」なんて書いてあるから一瞬別人かと思ったが、Africa Brasil だしJorge~~ Benと書いてあるから間違いなく私がレコードで持っているやつだ(写真も違うが)。レコードは聴きにくくなったので、思わずCDを買ってしまった。「ファンキー・サンバの大名盤」と書いてある。ロッド・スチュワートが盗作して裁判で負けた有名な曲もある。どの曲も独特の雰囲気で素晴らしい。リズムもメロディも彼の歌声もコーラスも歌詞も、何とも言えない楽しい~~気分にしてくれる。聴いていると思わず笑ってしまいたくなる所があるのは私の耳のせいか？なお、レコードには歌詞も日本語訳もあったが、このCDは解説だけ。因にレコードの方の解説では「命がけのすごいアルバムが生まれた」と書いてある。まさにそんな感じ。すごいよ、これは。~

ジョルジ･ベン(ジョール)１９７６年の作品。

サンバとロックを掛け合わせたファンキーなサウンド、サンバロック
を提唱し、ブラジルのアンダーグラウンドから熱狂的な支持を集める
ジョルジ･ベン(ジョール)。最近ではクラブミュージック界でも
大きく取り上げられ、その元ネタに取り上げられることも多い。

ブラジル音楽というと、日本ではボサノバの印象が強いが、
本国でのボサノバブームは１９５０年台から１９６０年代
までという、音楽の潮流としては意外なほど短命なもので、
中流階級のみに受け入れられた音楽でもあった。

そういう意味では、ジョルジ･ベン(ジョール)に代表される
(ベンジョール学派等ともいわれるらしい)音楽は、むしろ
ブラジル全土から支持を受ける音楽といえるかも知らない。

本作品は、「マシュ･ケ･ナダ」に次ぐ彼の代表作といえる
「タジ･マハール」がトラックされておりそれだけでも必聴。

全体的にしつこいまでに反復されるリフレイン。
そして、ファンキーなギターのカッティングと、
クイーカなどの民族楽器とのコラボレーションは
正に爽快。これを聴かずに夏を語ることは出来まい。
