超絶技巧作品を好んで演奏する――必ずしも上手というわけではないが――の果敢な挑戦に拍手を送る。
ソラブジの作品は、おそらく譜読みの段階で逃げ出す人が多いわけだが、この作品に真剣に取り組み、録音までしたのはマッジのほかにはオグドンくらいしかいない。

完成度の点ではオグドンに一歩譲るが、オグドンの演奏が入手困難な今、マッジの演奏は貴重な録音となる。
