坂本龍一と矢野顕子の間に生まれたサラブレッド、坂本美雨のファースト・フル・アルバム。矢野顕子のカヴァーである1で、母そっくりの声にまず驚く。坂本龍一がかつてプロデュースしていた大貫妙子の世界観にとても近いと思う。3は川村結花の作品。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

人間形成の最大の要素である“両親”の存在はだれにもついて回る。それを客観視できるようになっていく過程を“成長”という。坂本美雨のファースト・アルバムを聴いて感心するのは、彼女がすでに両親の“作品”を客観視し、そのエキスをうまいこと取り込んでいることだ。両親がたまたまあの二人だったといってもいいくらい、(現時点での)自分の世界を造りあげている。特に、詩にそれを強く感じる。(1)では矢野顕子の影がチラッと見えたように感じたが、聴き進むうちに、それは美雨にとって自分の世界を構成する一個の要素でしかないことが証明される。母親の影響が濃いというなら、その歌唱力だろう。実にスムーズに歌っている。低音から高音までうねるように展開する歌唱は、末恐ろしくも頼もしい。彼女の表現力はこの先どこまで広く深くなっていくのか。バックに大物が勢ぞろいしているが、そんなことなどどこ吹く風。十分に個性的でアグレッシヴな作品となった。 (平原康司) --- 1999年10月号

少々親父さんに頼ってる感があるがその歌声は天性の物。母親に声が似てると言うがどちらかというと大貫妙子さんに近いかも。透明感があって伸びがあってそれでいて包まれるような声は本当に癒されます。「ａｗａｋｅｎｉｎｇ」は中谷美紀さんが日本語で歌ってるので聞き比べてみるのもいいかも。

すべて溶け合い、何にも染まらない、aquaな響き。それが坂本美雨の才能であり、努力して手に入るような質のものとは明らかに違う圧倒的な本物なのだ…と実感するアルバム。プロデューサーの坂本龍一を筆頭に矢野顕子、SUGIZO、大貫妙子、A・リンゼイ、川村結花が楽曲提供。作詞は半数以上が本人。3は矢野顕子のカバー、5は「鉄道員」の英語版、ポエトリーリーディング4は淡々とした中に妙ななまめかしさがある。

矢野顕子譲りの声の魅力、坂本龍一譲りの音楽のセンス、こういう言い方は何かもしれませんが、天性の才能を感じさせます。
