このアルバムが出た頃は、プロデューサーのつんくも今ほどいろいろなところに手を広げていなかったせいで、製作に集中出来たためか、個々の曲をとっても全体のまとまりからしても、完成度の高い作品に仕上がっている。

イントロが衝撃的でモーニング娘。の中でもっともクールなナンバー「NIGHT OF TOKYO CITY」、安倍をフィーチャーした「ふるさと」と「せんこう花火」、カップリング曲だけに終わらせるにはもったいなかった「恋の始発列車」、福田が卒業の思いを込めて歌い上げた「Never Forget」など、どの曲も細かいところまでこだわって作り込んでいる感じがする。
『LOVEマシーン』以降、つんく本人も多忙になったためか、その後のアルバム製作には手抜きが感じられてしまう。いまだにこの作品が、モーニング娘。のNo.1アルバムだと思う。

蛇足であるが、このＣＤはＣＤエキストラ使用になっていて、モーニング娘。のスクリーンセイバーも収録さている。

初のオリコン１位に輝いた「抱いて~」から「ふるさと」までの４曲のシングルは勿論のことオリジナル曲の完成度も驚くほど高い
ある意味現在とは違った制作姿勢で臨んでいたようです。

この直後のＬＯＶＥマシーンで実も蓋もないお祭り路線に移行し
現在では応援歌しか歌えない構成になってしまった
娘。とは一味違う一品です。

簡単に言うと捨て曲無し、粒揃いの良作です。
今のモーニング娘とは違う一面が見れる筈です。
