Dexの有名な盤はほとんど聞いてますが、これは知りませんでした。ジャケのデザインもアレゲですし…。しかし、これは大当たり！素晴らしいです。何でこんなに良い盤がマイナーなのか不思議なくらいです。ピアノレストリオなのでDexの豪快かつ歌心満載なブロウが満喫できるのは言うまでもありません。出色なのは、時折火花を散らすベースのNeils Pedersenとのインタープレイです。Dexの豪放なブロウに絡みついてくるベース、そしてそれをあおるAlex Rielのビートがたまりません。Dexが好きな人はもちろん、テナーやベースなど低音系が好きな方もマストバイな一枚です。
なくなる前に買いましょう。入手が難しくなりそうな予感…。

全国５０名の隠れデクスターフアンの皆様にお知らせいたします。このＣＤを絶対に買ってください。デクスターの隠れ名盤ナンバーワンはこれで決まりです、間違いありません。信じてください、私が保証します。ベースにニルス・ヘニング・ペデルセン、ドラムスにアレックス・リール（まるでエルビンのよう！）を迎えて、ピアノレス！！！のトリオ（ワーオ）でデックスが吼えまくります。ＵＳアマゾンのサイトでデックスのＣＤ漁りをしていたとき、あるデックスフアンの方が、「これは秘密だが、デックスを愛する人のために教える、多くの人は知らないが、デックスの最高傑作はこのララバイ・フォー・モンスターである。」と、コメントされていました。何も知らずにこのＣＤをアマゾンで購入した私ですが、いまだにこのＣＤを聞くと体の鳥肌がとまりません。これは決して大げさな表現ではないと思います。もしあなたが豪快無比なデックスを好きならば、これはGood Newsです。このレビューをよんだことを、神に感謝し、今すぐこのＣＤがなくなる前に急いで購入してください。そしてあなたの知り合いでデックスを好きな人に教えてあげて下さい。これはあなたの義務です。デックスはロリンズ、トレーン、グリフィン、スティット、モブレーより凄い。ヤングとホーキンスを足して二で割り、パーカーをまぶしたようなプレーヤーです。Our Daddy Played A Horn.エーメン。

1976年6月15日コペンハーゲンで録音。この時期のジャズの聖地デンマークでのむちゃくちゃリラックスしたデクスター・ゴードンのプレイが聴ける隠れ名盤である。CD化であの『Good Bait』が追加されたのがとどめの一発になっている。

ベースがペデルセンで確実なプレイを見事にこなし完璧。その中で楽しそうなデクスター・ゴードンのプレイが冴えまくる。何か聴いていて昔、アメリカでプレイしていたときより何倍も幸せを感じてしまう。1の『Nursery Blues』などほんとに自由奔放でのびのび楽しそう。『Good Bait』では何となくコルトレーンのあのプレイを意識しつつも楽しそうに吹いています。

一言で言えばハッピーな作品です。
