ＰＷＬによるプロデュースで大ヒットを記録した1「You spin me round - like a record-」を擁する彼らの2nd。音作りは派手に煌びやかになり、ダンスフロアで盛り上がること必至のナンバーが多数収録されています。
シングルカットされた1、4「In too deep」、7「Lover come back to me」、8「My heart goes bang」はもちろん、ゴージャスなホーンセクションが配された3「DJ Hit that button」、速射砲のようなピートのVo.が最高の5「Big daddy of the rhythm」、硬質で冷ややかな印象の大作（約８分）9「It's been a long time」など、捨て曲ナシの内容。

UK盤のコレクターエディットシリーズ「REWIND」には日本盤の９曲に加えて、「You spin me round (performance mix)」及び「Lover come back to me (extended mix)」の12インチが追加収録されており、お得です。

ユーロビートの第一人者とも言うべき、このデッド・ア・アライヴ
の通算２枚目にして、ユーロビートの世間的な認識を
得たとも言える記念すべき傑作アルバムである。
Vo、ピート・バーンズのそのヴィジュアル性と歌唱力はその後も
かなり影響を与える事になるのだが、とにかく歌が上手い。
ユーロビートにはこういう声！という固定観念が出来そうな、
とてもバランスの取れた音楽スタイルが聞いてて飽きがこない。
私的に言わせてもらえば、カルチャークラブの
ボーイ・ジョージとヴィジュアル性を比べれば、
総合的にこちらの方が上にくるのではないかと思う。
まぁ、向こうの方がもっと世間的に売れたのでそれは否めないが…。
現在のユーロビートはパラパラを意識してるのか
どうかは分からんが、倍速気味に曲が作られている傾向があって、
聞くのを楽しむという事ではちょっと違うかなーって思う。
確かに「バタフライ」や「ナイト・オブ・ファイヤ」
などは良い曲だとは思うがこのデッド・オア・アライブのように、
一昔のユーロの方が聞きやすく名曲が揃っていた
のではないかと感じるトコがある。
さて、収録曲についてだが、オープニングの1
「ユー・スピン・ミー・ラウンド」はユーロ好きなら一度は
聞いた事のある名曲だが、その他にも独特の
ＤＯＡ節が結構聞きやすいので是非どうぞ。

このアルバムでさんざん踊ったものです。デッドオアアライブといえば、まずこのアルバムを聴かないと。ドキドキしながら買ったものです。いまだにこの時の興奮は、忘れられない。知ってる曲ばかりだと思います。
