ピチカート・ファイヴが解散する前は、もう大好きで、毎日毎日聴いて、

それこそ３度の食事と同じくらい、
ピチカートファイヴの音楽を聴くことは私の中で日常になっていました。

そのなかでも特にこの作品が一番好きで、
８年もの間、クルマのＣＤケースから出していないＣＤはこれだけです。

こんなにキュートでポップでオシャレなＣＤは他にないと思います。

ソニーでの不遇な扱いを経て、日本コロムビアに移籍する際の
小西康陽の条件は「多作」。ここから怒濤の快進撃が始まる。
とはいえ、この時点で誰がオリコントップ１０入りとか
海外ツアーなどを想定できただろう。

ツアーコーラスだった野宮真貴をメインボーカルに据えて
１枚のTVドラマサントラ、３枚のEP、そしてこのアルバム

をもって「女性上位時代　5×5 countdown to ecstacy」
シリーズと題されており、つまりは、ポール・ウェラーなどの
UK勢のヴァージョン量産スタイルを強烈に意識していた。
折しもクラブミュージックとリミックスのブーム。
驚いたことに、当時の日本ではそんなことを知っていたのは
ごく一部の人たちだった。それを、洋楽の模倣ではなく

洋楽すら軽く超えたアイデアで音楽を作っていた当時の
ピチカート、その瞬間風速の凄さがこのCDにはつまっている。

たぶん、このCDの「ある種の凄さ」を超えた日本の音楽は、
まだない。

いやはやすんごいバンドだ。聴いてると、ヨーロッパのポップスやボサノバ／ジャズ／ラテン／などをなんなくばつぐんのバランス感覚でブレンドしてる。

歌詞の鋭さもすばらしい。海外の音楽雑誌を読んでみたら、このバンドがかなり高く評価されているのに驚いた。それもそのはず聴いてみたらかなりぶっ飛んだ。

アシッドジャズなんかも見事に消化／ヒップホップなどのリズムも見事に消化。余裕で曲を展開する。音楽的な引き出しの多さにびびる。
１０点中１０点。フレンチポップスをかなり研究なされておられるようで、しゃれたサウンドがまぶしい。

残念ながら解散したらしく、誠に残念であります。日本はやはり絶対におかしい。こういうひとたちがチャートのトップにならなきゃおかしい。ポップクリエイターたちの鋭いアルバム。おたくなにおいを感じます。
