Putting the movie's finale cue first ("Aftermath") is a bit of a red herring. The idea is to provide the album with an heroic musical intro before the shocks begin, which makes musical sense even if it's as misleading as any seeming importance the characters possess. Once we're clear of this anthemic beginning, the feeding frenzy commences. "Journey" is almost heavenly hopeful with an awed chorus intoning wonder. That's just before a charging passage attacks your peace of mind to remind you just what sort of movie this is--killer mutant sharks on the loose! There's another jolting stab halfway through "Experiment", but the cue cuts short before the real shock of the scene. It's "Anarchy" that shows off Trevor Rabin's best writing, with an enormous piece of tense nastiness. The music has its own set of sharp teeth--just don't get bitten by the quiet bits: they don't last. --Paul Tonks
