最近、ライクーダーを聞き始めたこともあって、この作品に行き着きました。
いやー、最高！
ライのスライドも申し分なく素晴らしい（彼の作品群の中でも、最高の部類に入るスライドプレイなんじゃないでしょうか？？）が、ジョンハイアットの絞りだすようなボーカルが最高です。
Ｒ＆Ｂ、ブルース、カントリーロックなどのルーツミュージック全てを包み込んで、情感豊かに歌い上げてます。
バラードも、心に沁みます。

良いアルバムをめっけたモンですわ〜。＾＾）

このアルバムが発表された時は、ジョン・ハイアットの事は、ほとんど知らずジム・ケルトナー（ドラム)、ライ・クーダー（スライド）、ニック・ロウ（ベース」という恐ろしくゴージャスなメンバーに惹かれて即、購入しました。バンドの演奏はこれ以上ないぐらい素晴らしく、文句なしです。そして主役のジョン・ハイアットですが、とにかく曲が大変魅力的な上に、渋い声で表現力豊かに歌いまくっています。（ピアノの弾き語りもシビレます。）このアルバムと出合って、ずいぶんと時が過ぎましたが、今でも色あせることなく、名盤として、わたしのレコード・ラックの中で輝いています。

　たぶん皆さんから怒られると思うけどあえて書きます。
　たいへん残念なのはレコード会社の姿勢、これはないよなーというのが正直な感想です。
　なぜなら久しぶりにこのアルバム、聴きたくなってCD購入したのですが、プロダクションの手抜きにがっかりなので。
　このアナログのDEMON盤を持ってるのですが、これがほれぼれするほどの出来なのです。
　なんと表の写真・写真の質感がまるで違っています。
　なにしろアナログ盤の表写真は、家族写真のアーカイヴからの1枚で、しかもコーティングがしてある(http://www.rylanders.free-online.co.uk/RySite/RyPages/RyCovers/bringfam.jpg)。
　これアルバムのテーマ「家族愛」ともすごくマッチしている。
　かざっておきたいぐらいです。
　さらに裏写真・内袋の写真の質感も、お金のかけ方が全然違ってる。
　なんかCD版は粒子が粗くて素っ気ないですが、アナログのほうはすごくやさしい色調(モノクロ)。
　たぶんレコード会社としては、ある程度売れたらあとは金かけないで、細々と売っていければいい、ぐらいのプロダクションだったのでは。
　あまりに内容が素晴らしいので減点しませんが、レコード会社への抗議のつもりで書きました。
