5.0 out of 5 stars ＬＡメタルを上手く消化した、北欧メタル作品, 2004/9/7
ＬＡメタルに影響を受けつつも、「哀愁」「美旋律」といった北欧のバンド特有の要素を盛り込んだ、質の高い作品です。

「Ready for the taking」「Party all over」「Keep you hands yourseld」等、始めの方の曲こそＬＡメタル的な雰囲気を持っているものの、それ以降は美しい北欧ハードポップの連打。

1stアルバムからのリメイクである「Get you on the run」は、EuropeやTNTと比べても遜色無いほどの仕上がりになっています。個人的には、若干ハードなナンバーの「Conspiracy」を気に入っていて、何年もの間、毎日のように聞いています。

Anders Wikstormのギターは、派手さこそ無いものの、メロディ至上主義とも言える美しいフレージングを、安定した腕で表現してます。
「Fatal smile」、「Hunger」でのソロでは、マイケル・シェンカー並みの構築力を披露しています。

「スウェーデンのBON JOVI｣の異名をとっていた彼らが'90年にリリースした最高傑作。

オープニングから能天気系ナンバーの連発にメゲそうになるが、4曲目の名バラード"Stay away"から雰囲気が一変する。
何でこんなに素晴らしいメロディ展開が作れるのか不思議になってくる名曲"Conspiracy"をはじめとして

｢北欧｣を感じさせる叙情的なメロディを湛えたHRチューンが連発される。
"Fatal smile"も名曲。

ちなみにこのアルバムでTREATは初来日公演を実現させている。

それまでの作風と比較すると、よりHR色が濃くなったような気がしますが、このくらいの方が私の耳には丁度いい感じで飛び込んでくるので◎。一曲たりとも聴き逃せない好盤ですが、中でも一際輝いているのが8です。1st収録曲のリメイクなのですが、比較にならないほどの素晴らしさです。
