　僕は「明日なき世界」一曲を聴きたくて買いました。独特のだみ声で歌われる、時代を象徴する曲ですね。
　詳しく分かりやすく書かれたライナーが付いてます。それによると、このアルバムは1965年7月録音のバリー・マクガイアのファースト・ソロ・アルバムです。知らなかったんですが、この人、フォークの名曲「グリーン・グリーン」の作曲者なんですね。ニュー・クリスティ・ミンストレルズなんてフォーク・グループをやっていたけど、ディランに影響されまたベトナム戦争などの時代の流れもあり「意味ある歌」を歌いたいとソロに転向したということです。いい勉強になりました。
　ところで、僕はこの曲をRCサクセションの「カヴァーズ」で知りました。こっちも、かなりに迫力あるいい演奏ですよ。

もともとはフォークシンガーだったバリーマクガイアだが、世の中にビートルズが現れ、ボブディランがエレクトリックに転向するなどの変換の時期に、このバリーマクガイアもロックに転向していった。
そして生まれた名曲が明日なき世界である。何かのビデオで、バリーマクガイアがしわくちゃの顔をさらにゆがめ、この歌を歌ってるのみたがなかなかすごかった。（格好は白いタイツだったけど）
明日なき世界は戦争を取り上げた歌だが、この唄は当時その内容から社会現象にまでなり（ベトナム戦争などが背景にあったため）、売り上げのほうもＮＯ，１に輝いた。はっきりいってこの一曲がこのアルバムの価値といってもいいほどで、バリーマクガイアは、この一曲でソロ活動を始め成功させた。
