   本作『Sheer Heart Attack』は、ほとんどすべてのリスナーに受け入れられそうなクイーン作品だ。グラム・ロック、プログレ、過剰なまでに華麗なギター・プレイ（ブライアン・メイが変幻自在なパフォーマンスを披露する「Brighton Rock」と「Flick of the Wrist」に注目）、初期スピード・メタル（「Stone Cold Crazy」）、そしていかにもクイーンらしいゲイっぽいユーモア（コンサートの定番曲「Now I'm Here」でフレディ・マーキュリーがぶちまける文句“アメリカの新しい花嫁候補さ／心配ないよ、ベイビー、僕は安全で健康だから”）、何でもありの内容なのだ。

「QUEEN 2」「A NIGHT AT THE OPERA」を最高傑作と評す方が多いせいか、世間一般
では少し（あくまでも少し）扱いが低いと感じます。

はじめて24トラックでレコーディングしたせいか、ギター・オーケストレーションや
コーラスの「音」も本作で完成したと思います。

録音当初、ブライアン・メイが体調で参加できないというハンデがあったにも

かかわらず、アルバム全体の流れが良く、楽曲の質も高い。彼らが一番創造意欲に
溢れていた時期だったからでしょう。

文句なしの名盤です。

忘れもしない中学１年の頃、スーパーの屋上のゲーセンのジューク
ボックスで、何気なくかけたキラークイーン。指を鳴らすカウント
から続いて始まったクールなボーカルが、あれよあれよというまに
ものすごいことになっていくのを、呆然と聞いていた。4回連続でか
けて、恥ずかしくなってレコード屋に走りました。

それこそ擦り切れるほど聞いてキラークイーンのとこだけ、白くなっ
てしまいましたけど、他の曲も素敵です。
関係ありませんが、このアルバムジャケットのフレディは、ごく普通
のハンサム顔に撮れていたので、後にああいう人だとわかったときは
がくぜんとしました。

飽きが来ませんし古臭さも感じません。フレディマーキュリー全盛期の声が聞けるのはデビューアルバム〜世界に捧ぐまでじゃないかと。曲はそれ以降も素晴らしい物は多々ありますが…で、自分はこれをイチ押しします!ハードさとポップさが共存する捨て曲ナシのすばらしいアルバムです!「レッドツェッペリンのヘヴィネスにTHE BEATLESのポップさをプラスする=成功」という当時のフレディの目論みが見事に的中してます。毎日聞いてもこのアルバムは飽きないですねえ…喜怒哀楽全ての気持ちで聞けますから。
