With one foot in Beggars Banquet-era Stones (the gospel-rock "Movin' on Up") and the other in the trippy soundscapes of rave culture (the Orb-produced "Higher Than the Sun"), Primal Scream caught the mind-blown euphoria of Ecstacy better than anyone. Frontman Bobby Gillespie had no singing voice to speak of, but his vision of cosmic hedonism made him a drugged-out Pied Piper for the acid tribes. このレコードにはほとんどなんだってある。ダンシーで、トリッピー。夢幻のサウンドが紡ぎだすのはマンチェスターの夢であり、イギリスの夢であり、世界の夢であり、ワイルドサイドを歩くみんなの夢であり、つまりあなたの夢だ。ゆえにこのアルバムはこの世で最も温かくて美しい。目をつぶり、耳を澄まし、流れに身を任そう。

呪縛って漢字で書くとめっちゃヘビーだな、と今思いました。呪って縛る。とてもヘビーです。確かに最高のアルバムです。何百回と聞き込みまくり、『ボビーになりてー!!』と思ったものです。
でも、こういった最強のアルバムを出すと後が大変で、結局のところ、彼らは未だに新しいアルバムを出すたびに多かれ少なかれでこのアルバムとの比較をされてしまっているのです。
それだけ彼らへの期待は高いわけですし、そういう歴史に名を残すアルバムを世に送り出せただけでもいいとは思いますが、そういう過度の期待の結果、次のアルバムではコテンパンに打ちのめされてしまい、バンド自体も数年間は停滞を余儀なくされてしまうことになったりと、このアルバムは云わば諸刃の剣みたいなものだったのかもしれません。
各楽曲の評価は他の方々もなさっていますので、割愛。問題はアルバムとしてのコンセプト。
ビートルズでいうならラバーソウル以前。なんかシングルの寄せ集めみたいな感じ？適当に曲作ってシングルにして出していたら、アルバム一枚分の曲が出来ちゃった。だから足りない分だけ曲作ってアルバムにしちゃおっか？わからないけどそんな感じ。逆に言えばぶっ飛びまくってたアシッドハウス全盛期のそういう『気分』みたいなものを感じずにはいられません。

この真っ赤なジャケを見ると、クラブチッタで開演前に
見知らぬ方から裏拳を頂いた事を思い出します。

「movin'on up」や「don't fight it,feel it」もイイんですが、
「higher than the sun」、「shine like stars」の方が好きです。

「higher than the sun」のプロデュースは　the orb のアレックスパターソン。
後半の転調具合はかなりハマる。
日本の猛暑だったらヤク中でなくても軽くいける。

「shine like stars」は波の音がしたりオルガン？と
チャカポコリズムが奏でるとってもメローな曲。
ボビーさんのべちゃっとした歌声も良し。
風呂上りにさっぱりして星でも探そうかってかんじの
チルアウトな１曲。

トニーマーティンがどこら辺をやってるのかはいまいちわからず。

一度虜になれば癖になって抜け出せない。
ジャンルもクソもなくうろうろして
こんなにおもしろくてハマれるバンドはなかなかないと思います。
