世間ではジューダス・プリーストの最高傑作はボーカルのロブハルフォードが
最後に在籍していたペインキラーとの声が多いですが、曲としてのつくりは
このアルバムが一番だと思います。ペインキラーほどの激しさはありませんが
このアルバムには曲１つ１つに様々な感情がこめられていると思います。

２００４年の今年にはロブハルフォードが帰ってくるのでとても楽しみです。

ジャケ・デザイン、タイトル、楽曲共に、ＨＭ/ＨＲの極限美である本作は、’７６年に発売された２ndアルバムです。

ロブ・ハルフォードが自信を持って「ジューダス・プリーストの全てがわかる」と断言する＃1、世界的に有名な殺人鬼「切り裂きジャック」をテーマにした＃2、次作「背信の門」への布石となった＃3など、世界最高とさえ言われる彼らのライヴを彩ってきた名曲ばかりである。

中でもグレン・ティプトンとK.K.ダウニングの絶妙のツイン・リードが聴ける＃6は傑作で’７０年代末期までのライヴにおけるハイライトを飾ってきた名曲中の名曲だと思う。
