1984's Slide It In was the first album that showed that Whitesnake was truly attempting to make it big in the U.S. Its sound was becoming more radio-friendly, but still retained the biting hard rock edge present on its earlier albums. The set features such boisterous rockers as the album-opening title track, the grinding "Slow an' Easy," and the melodic "Love Ain't No Stranger." EMI. 2003.

WHITESNAKEがアメリカに行く前、本当にWHITESNAKEだった頃の最高傑作です。WHITESNAKEアルバムから入った人にはわかりづらいかもしれませんがこれこそがブリティッシュロックです。ブルージーでハードで。各国でバージョンがちがうのはご愛嬌です。COZYも俺様ぶりが少し押さえられて（MIXのせい？）バンドとして曲としてこれを凌ぐものはないと思っています。

当時のマイケル・シェンカー・グループ（MSG）から大スタードラマーの
コージー・パウエルを引き抜き、 イギリスでオリジナル盤（UK盤）作成発売後、
アメリカ進出を視野にプロヂューサーにマーティン・バーチ、
ベースにはニール・マーレイを再度迎え入れ、
ギター（そのほとんどはサイドギター）をミッキー・ムーディーから
解散直後のシン・リジーの最終メンバ―だったジョン・サイクスに交代し、
各パートのみ再録音〜ミキシングした記念すべき傑作アルバム。
この後のツアーでは、当初リードギターだったメル・ギャレーが怪我で脱落しましたが、
このUS盤で味付け効果が絶大だったジョンがギターパートを独り堂々とこなし、
来日ツアーでも我々を感動させてくれました。
ツアー後はニールと共にホワイトスネイクに残留し、
あの次作“サーペンス・アルバス”が生まれるのです。
このUS盤の唯一惜しむべきは点は曲順にメリハリが無くなってしまったこと…。
2枚買い揃えたLP時代には、UK/US盤どちらを聴こうか迷った記憶もあります。
CD〜デジタル機器で曲順を以下のUK盤への並べ替えての鑑賞をお勧めします。
コージー自に“名曲”と言わしめた“Gambler”を頭にもってくるのが良いでしょう！

★UK盤のオリジナル曲順：5→1→10→8→3→2→9→4→7→6

「SLIDE IT IN」がリマスター、しかもSHM化と聴いて絶対にUS盤のほうでやってくれと思ってはいたが、こうして実際聴いてみると素晴らしいダイナミズム溢れる音場再現で歓喜している。

曲順だけはUK盤のほうがいいのだが、プロデュースをエディ・クレイマーからマーティン・バーチに代え中低域の強化に成功している。
マーレイのベース、そして他人の曲に被せただけで抑え気味プレイもまた味のあるサイクスと最強ドラマーコージー。
もう二度とないこの組み合わせは前作セインツ&シナーズの軽い音作りをひっくり返す重さと迫力を持つ。

それがリマスタリングSHMでどう変わるか?オリジナルマスター使用ではなくとも元の素材が良いので期待大ではあるが、特に低音域コージーのバスドラ、マーレイのベースがズンズン響く、ジョン・ロードのオルガンも聞き取りにくさが消えクリアー。

虹のライジングのSHMも素晴らしかったが、これはそれの上を行く仕上がり。

白蛇ファンは元より洋楽ファンは必買ですよっ。
