初期ボンジョヴィのベストアルバムです。
ボンジョヴィが成功してからというもの彼等の後追いバンドが多数登場しましたが、何者も彼等の地位を脅かすことは出来ませんでした。キャッチーなメロディー、適度にハードでポップなそのスタイルは後にボンジョヴィスタイルと呼ばれるようになりました。
アルバム収録曲は、どれもボンジョヴィファンならずとも一度は聴いたことのある曲ばかりだと思います。まさに一家に一枚的な名作なのが、本ベストアルバムです。

Bon Joviにハマったきっかけになったアルバム。ベストアルバムという何に恥じない収録内容で、ライブでもおなじみの曲ばかりです。Livin on a prayer, you give love a bad nameはもはやアンセム的にまで昇華されていて、keep the faithはライブのクライマックスで盛り上がる曲で、Someday I'll be Saturday nightとAlwaysは当時の新曲でSomedayはカントリーチックですがとてもノリの良い曲。Alwaysは数あるBon Joviのバラードの中でも１，２を争うラブソング。歌詞が良すぎます！Wanted dead or aliveはRichieとの掛け合いが最高！Lay your hands on meはライブで観客がめっちゃ盛り上がれる曲でBed of Rosesはこれまたラブソング。Blaze of gloryはJohnのソロアルバムからの曲で、壮大さが感じられます。I'll be there for youはラブソングで、Johnのシャウトがカッコいい！In and out of loveは評価の低い２ndアルバムからのからですが、私的にはカッコいいと思います。Runawayは言わずと知れたデビュー曲！Never say goodbyeはロックとバラードが見事に調和しています！

私からの意見としてはI'll sleep when I'm dead,Dry county,Love for sale,Born to be my babyも入れといて欲しかった・・・

注意が必要なのは、収録曲が若干変わることです。日本版のはTokyo Road。日本のファンへ贈る曲だそうで、日本好きが分かります。International版はIn these arms、アメリカ版はPrayer '94となっています。Prayer '94以外はオリジナルアルバムに収録されてるので、アメリカ版を選択するのが良いかとは思います。対訳や歌詞はつかないですが・・・

　全世界アルバムトータルセールス１億枚を越えるモンスターロックバンドのBON　JOVI。そのBON　JOVIの初のベストアルバムが１９９４年にリリースされた本作の「クロス　ロード」である。本作は全世界で約１８００万枚の売り上げ記録し、アメリカのアルバムチャート上ではいまいちだったものの、日英の両国ではアルバムたチャート１位を記録した大ヒット作だ。

　本作に収録されている曲を全体的に見ると黄金期のBON　JOVIの名曲が数多く収録されていることが分かる。デビューシングルのMや彼らのシングルといては最大ヒットした@をはじめ、F　J　Nなどといった彼らの代表曲も数多く収録されている。個人的に言うと本作の選曲は良いとは思うが贅沢な話、二枚組みにしてもう少し名曲やLIVEで良くプレイする曲などを入れてほしかった気もするが初心者にはお勧めできるアルバムだということは確かだろう。それにBON　JOVIはどちらかというとハードロック系アーティストでもあるがハードロック系アーティストとは思えぬほどポップな曲を数多く世に送り出していることから、ロックの入門者や洋楽の入門者にもお勧めできるアルバムといえるかもしれない。
