　ここ日本ではその実力に見合った知名度・人気を得るに至ってはいないが、ギター・インストゥルメンタルにかけては人後に落ちない彼。誰もがどこかで耳にしたことがあるであろう"Summer song""Motorcycle driver"といった曲が収録されているといった点で、これを彼の代表作と言ってしまってもさほど異論は出まい。

　ギターのテクニックもさることながら、僕が彼の最大の魅力として捉えているのは、そのトーンの多彩さと表情の豊かさ。メロディ・センスもあり、本作でもそれは遺憾なく発揮されている。

　加えてこのアルバムで彼のバックを務めるのは、マット(B)とグレッグ(DS)のビソネット兄弟。特にグレッグは、デイヴ・リー・ロス・バンド時代の同僚、かのスティーヴ・ヴァイをして「彼はまるで血の通ったリズム・マシーンだ」と言わしめた実力者。さすがに文句のつけようがない仕事をしている。

　ギター・インストというのは、いかに高品質であれどうしても聴き手を限定してしまう類の音楽だということは承知だが、それでも本作は自信を持ってオススメできる。

オープニングのFriends。
曲質はまさに【友達】です。
卒業シーズンに聞いてしまい，感動と切なさが雪崩れ込んできたのを覚えています。

そしてﾀｲﾄﾙﾁｭｰﾝですが，これは素晴らしいです。
サトリアーニ流ハードロックが堪能できます。
パワー満点のハープもマッチしています。

その他，サトリアーニライブに行く場合
必須となる曲“summer song”や，
雰囲気満点のバラード“Cryin'”など，
一枚に素晴らしい世界が凝縮されてます。

それと，個人的に気になったのは“War”。
【戦争】というテーマを掲げると，どうしても
「速いかっこいいハードロック」に偏ってしまいがちですが，
彼の場合そうではないな　と感じました。
激しく，そして戦争の無意味さ，憎さを聴き取った気がします。

とかくテクニックのショー的になりがちなギターインスト作品だが、このアルバムはテク一辺倒にならず、とにかく耳に心地良い。大御所の凄味を感じさせるメロディアスなナンバーの連発は、ボーカルがないことに全く物足りなさを感じさせない。
思わず「さすが！」と思ってしまった。上手い人は星の数ほどいるけれど、これだけ聴かせるアルバムを出してる人はそうはいないだろう。
