カエターノ･ヴェローゾとガル･コスタによる1967年の作品。

ジョアン･ジルベルト、アントニオ･カルロス･ジョビン、
ヴィニシウス･ジ･モライスらによって作られたボサノバ。
この一大ムーブメントもついにこの作品を最後に表舞台から去ることになる。

そのボサノバの最終章を締めくくるのが、
ジョアン･ジルベルトを師と仰ぎ、
自身次なるムーブメント「トロピカリズム」を起こすことになる
カエターノ･ヴェローゾである。

ブラジルの歌姫ガル･コスタと残したこの作品には
そんなボサノバの最後のともし火を感じることが出来る。

一曲目「Coracao Vagabundo (放浪者の心)」に始まる本作品は
一貫して寂しげな雰囲気が漂っている。
一時代の終焉とはこのように寂しいものなのであろうか。

今回のカエターノ･ヴェローゾ来日に先立ち、
こんなボサノバアルバムを聴いてみるのも良いのではないだろうか。

アルバム単位での音数の少なさは特筆に値する。
ボーカルもバッキングももうこれ以上削ぎ落とすと音楽として成り立たない限界まで切り詰められている。
本当にこわい事とは、支配される事でも抑圧される事でも無く、自分の存在が誰からも認知されなくなっていく事なんだと気付いてしまった人が紡ぐ歌。
音と音の間にあるのは静寂では無く、歌われる歌の主人公が背負ってしまった人生そのもの。
運命に翻弄され続けた彼らがずっと想い憧れていた心の安息。
それがこれだったとは・・・。
