冒頭、何かの儀式のような怪しげな人の声に続き、扇情的なギターがかき鳴らされてアルバムが幕を明ける。ジャケ写の怪しげなイメージとは違い、コード進行やメロディーは奇をてらっておらず、かなりカッコ良い。ただこのバンド、他のいわゆるエモバンドとは明らかに一線を画していて、こちらの心を一瞬にして鷲掴みにするようなエモーショナルなサウンドがなぜか押し付けがましくなく、むしろどこか冷めている。バンド名が古代マヤ文明に見られる紋様に絡めてつけられているように、音の中にもそのなんとも言えない独特の世界観がにじみ出ている。曲構成も素晴らしく、緩急織り交ぜられたこのアルバムは最初から最後まで何度も何度も聴けてしまいます。

これはマジでかっちょいいですよ。ちょうどハードコア聴きたいなって思ってたらMOGWAIのスチュアートが大絶賛してたんで聴いてみたら尖がった音がガッシガッシ突き刺さってきて超気持ちイイ。すっげーエモーショナルだけど、最近のエモって言われるバンドみたいなクドさもなくてイイし、特にFUGAZI以降を感じさせるドラミングはもう快感。GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR!っぽい展開を見せる曲もあって今後も期待大。
