前作Last Rightsは長いキャリアの集大成、
Skinny Puppyの一つのスタイルの究極系となった(と個人的に思う)Albumでしたが、
86年の加入後、約10年間苦楽を共にしたDwayne･R･Goettel氏がドラッグのオーバードーズで亡くなり、
解散が決定したため、製作途中だった本作がSkinny PuppyのLast Albumとなってしまいました。

92年のLast Rights以降、目立った活動の無かったSkinny Puppyですが、
4年の沈黙を破って発表された本作は今までに無くスピード感に満ち溢れていて、
なおかつ今まで以上に切なくメランコリックな作風になっていました。

アルバムのイントロ、1.のシャープな電子音と強力なメタル・ギターから幕を開け、
その後Rabies以上にハードでエッジの鋭いギターが鳴り響いていきます。
しかも今までに磨き続けたサンプリングという武器の弾数とその正確さは、
誰にも追いつけないレベルにまで達していると思います。
とにかく音量を上げて聴いてください。
ノイズやシンセ音のサンプリングが大量に惜しげも無く挿入されてます。

ハードエッジなギターが響く2.Death、ダンサブルな8.Blue Serge、
哀しみに満ちたメロディやシンセが流れる3.Canndleや5.Cultや10.Amnesia、
予測不可能で変幻自在に曲調が変化し、サンプリングが展開する4.Hardset Head、
それに美しいメロディすら乗る9.Motherなど、１曲１曲のクオリティが半端じゃありません。
マジで捨て曲などありません。自分はすべての曲が好きです。
現在入手困難になってますが、こんな名作が廃盤のままで良いとは思いません。

ジャケット裏にはGoettel氏への追憶が書かれています。
ちょうど10年前の今頃、95年8月23日が命日になっています。合掌。

　最近めでたく再結成した彼らが解散する直前に発表した1996年の作品。
　前二作に比べ、カオス度や不気味さは減り構成もおとなしめになったが、メタル・ギターを大幅に導入するなど、当時のシーンの流れを意識したアプローチをみせている。
