ユニコーン解散について「悲しくはなかった」と語った奥田民生。
しかしそんな彼にもユニコーン亡き次の時代をどうすれば良いか、どう生き抜いていくか、などと言った不安があった。
そのせいかファーストソロの本作は全体的に暗い。
「愛のために」や「BEEF」といった軽快なロックチューンもあるが、通して聴くと、何と言うか明るさの前に半透明の膜が張られたような感じがする。が、そこが魅力であり、素晴らしい。
白眉は「息子」。が、奥田風の決意表明とも言える「これは歌だ」も聴きどころだ。
しかし何よりもこのアルバムは通して聴く事によって立ち上がる独特の雰囲気を味わうべきだと思う。
このアルバムの後、奥田はその後何年も旅を共にするバンドを招集する。

４曲目の「息子」は名曲ですよ！
私も、息子が１人いますが、子を思う親の気持ちをすごく上手に歌にしている。
何度も繰り返して聴いてしまった。
何気ない日常を良い歌にしてしまうのは、奥田民生の魅力の一つだと思います。

またこの曲、結構ビートルズの曲作りに近いものを感じてしまう。

冒頭の明るい雰囲気からス-ッとマイナーコードに流れる進行がとても奇麗で、聴く人を惹きつけるポイントになってますね。
彼はビートルズのこと、大好きなんだろうな・・・。

”男の子のお父さん”は、絶対共感できると思うな！

ソロ・デビュー作。分厚いギターサウンドとドライブ感のある曲は、かれがやりたい音楽スタイルの一つ。歌詞や歌も素晴らしいけど、そちらに目を向けておいて、実はバックですごいことやってます。元JELLY FISHのアンディスターマーを起用。ビートルズ好き同士、意気投合というところでしょうか？アレンジ、作曲面での貢献度大です。名曲揃いのアルバムですが、最近のライブではこのころの曲は、あまりやらなくなってしまいました。愛のために　とか

ハネムーンなんかやって欲しいですね。ブリティッシュ・ブルース・ロック、ビートルズの影響を感じます。今から聞くと若干若さが出たアルバム。やりたいことがいっぱいあったんですねぇ。
