ティルブレナーは、５年程前に出したこのアルバムにより
世に広く知られる事になったと記憶しています。

LOVEは彼の「バラード集」アルバムです。
初めて聞いたとき、バラードとはこんなにも美しく哀しいものなのかと
私のようなバラード・マニアが再認識しました。
まるで哀しい物語を吹いているようで
トランペットが人の声のように聞こえました。

ベルリン出身のドイツ人トランペッターでありますが
このアルバムは、例えるならば「ニューヨークの夜」
恐いほどに、せつなくなります。
媚びないバラードの決定版ではないでしょうか。

ヘレンメリルが「ニューヨークのためいき」
と言われていたのを思い出しました。

クールジャズの決定版だと思うのだが，人によって好みが分かれるかもしれない．「薫り立つ，ヨーロッパの叙情」という触れ込みもうなずける静かなジャズである．Swing Journalのゴールドディスクにも選ばれているが，この選定は間違っていない．静かな夜に，目を閉じて静かに聞きたい秀作である．

トランペットは聴くに堪えない。もう少し詳しく説明すると、音の出ていないときの空白が使えていない。音が止まると音楽も止まってしまうのだ。バラードとしては致命的かも。ミュートを付けていないときのトランペットの音色は、美しいが教科書的で個性はない。コルネットは他の人の演奏を聴いたことがないのでよくわからない。
その代わり二曲だけ披露しているヴォーカルは、私の好きな声なのですばらしいと思う。ヴォーカルならもっと聴いてみたい。
