結構思い入れがあります。オールドファンから言わせればストレートすぎるとの事。確かに他と比べるとストレートな感じです。中にはこのアルバムの方がいいと言う人も居る事でしょう。ストレートな分他のバンドと比べやすいかもしれません。そして比べた結果からも彼等の音楽が他とずば抜けて凄いのが分かります。マシーンヘッドとツアーを一緒やった事があるようですが、オーディエンスの中にはマシーンヘッドよりも凄いと感じ取った連中もいたのではないでしょうか？聴いていただければわかりますが、ヘッドバンキングがし辛いです。変拍子を多様するからでしょうか？逆に言えばヘッドバンキングなどする暇も与えない様な凄さがあります。早く日本に来日して欲しい物です。

超絶テクニカルバンドのMESHUGGAHがおもいっきりコアにはしった作品です。演奏は言うまでもなく抜群ですがラフな感じが最高です。MESHUGGAHの作品の中では最もウルサイ作品、轟音そのものです。

カルト的人気を誇るスウェーデン出身のハイパー・デスメタルバンド「Meshuggah」（メシュガー）による3作目のフルレンスアルバム。1998年の作品です。デビュー作「Controdictions Collapse」（1991年）、2作目の「Destroy Erase Improve」（1995年）と確かな成長力を見せつけてきたMeshuggahですが、この３作目で自らのスタイルを完全に確立させたように思えます。

前作「Destroy Erase Improve」で身につけた疾走感にはますます磨きがかかり、一方で独特の変拍子が生み出す気が狂いそうになる複雑な楽曲構成がややシンプルに整理されたことによって、「聴きやすく」なっています。もっとも「聴きやすい」といってもあくまでも比較のうえでの話で、号音のようなリズム隊、極端に歪みきったデス声、そしてリーダーの奇才フレドリック・トーデンダルが繰り出す必殺のハイパーギターが生み出す「変態ワールド」は一段とパワーアップされています。くれぐれも心臓が弱い人は手を出さないようにお願いします。

しかし、よくもまあこんな変てこりんなフレーズを思いつくなあと感心するほど、フレドリック・トーデンダルのギターは変態極まりないのですが、時に聴かせる美しいレガート奏法は背筋が寒くなるほどの魅力をもっています。日本盤のみ追加された「Unenything」でのプレイがまさにそれで、一介のデスメタルバンドとは一線を画す魅力はこの曲に集約されているように思えます。
