Spacetime Continuum (a.k.a. experimental ambient maven Jonah Sharp) serves up a dependable if sometimes wandering ambient groove, split through a prism of acid jazz and light drum & bass. Less beat-driven than his last record,
Emit Ecaps, Sharp's percussionist background seeps through the jerky rhythms of "Biscuit Face" and the detached time signatures of "Beveled Edge," all in the service of song textures and arrangements that absorb the listener, yet never truly catch fire. The sound can even be a bit cold in spots, relaxing on static beats that never really go anywhere. However, preferring to rest on the velvety edge of the dance floor has its rewards for the headphone-wearing wallflower, who will find treats in the sax solos and lounge-room sweep of "Freezone" and "Further Down the Road."
