現在のガレージバンドをはじめとして数多くのバンドにリスペクトされまくっている、60sガレージパンク・レジェンド！
Sonicsの１stにして捨て曲なしの大傑作。ガレージパンクに興味があるならこのアルバムは外せません。
ガレージパンクという言葉を耳にしたことをあるけど何を聴けば？と迷ってる人には「まず,このアルバム！」と断言したい。

喜怒哀楽すべての感情をぶつけたような演奏に過剰なまでスクリーミング＆シャウトするヴォーカルが絡まり、聴くものを昇天させてくれる。
ハマったら抜け出せない底なしガレージパンク地獄の扉はまさにこのSonics！

あわせてリリース元であるNortonレーベルにも注目して欲しい。トラッシュ感覚あふれる50年代のロックンロール~ガレージパンクなどポリシーをもってリリースをしまくってくれている。レーベルの主催はA-Bonesということで納得。

ワシントン州タコマで結成されたローカルバンドに過ぎないが、
ガレージの元祖として後進から多大なリスペクトを受けるソニックスの1stにして代表作。
ブルースなどの黒人音楽をルーツにし、そこに爆音、絶叫、疾走感という解釈で、後のパンクスタイルを表した。

絶叫しっぱなしのヴォーカル、ファズの効いたギター、迫力のあるリズム隊、
ノリのいい鍵盤、脳天直撃サックスで、バンド一丸で楽曲を疾走していく様は、とにかく強烈。
オリジナルがボートラを除くと4曲しかないのは時代の性だが、カバーもオリジナルに負けず劣らず、痛快。
その中でもRoll Over Beethovenのカバーは個人的に一番お気に入り。
とにかく聞いて体験して欲しい。ほんとに60年代！？と驚くはずだ。

ちなみに、私はホワイトストライプスのライブ前、会場でこのアルバムを初めて聞いた。そういうことである。

大体60年代のガレージ・パンクの作品は
水増しのショボイ曲が入ってて
1枚聴き通すのがキツイのが多いけど
これは例外の1作。
オリジナルを超えるカヴァー曲、
頭がイカレてるようなオリジナル曲
まったく買って損なしです。
ビートルズ、ストーンズなんかの初期より
絶対良い。
ノスタルジアなんか持ってない
後追いの世代には解るハズ。
